Sydney BHA Annual General Meeting - 3 Nov 2007 Print
The AGM was held on Saturday 3rd November at Burwood RSL.

The Office Bearers for the year 2007/08 were elected as follows:
President, Mary Silk ; Vice-President, Peter Perry ; Secretary, (Vacant); Treasurer, John Steel ; four members of the Committee of Management, Haydn Daw, Louise Kelly, Leone Sperling  and Roma Wood.  There being no nomination for the position of Secretary, the President stated that the Committee of Management will continue looking for a suitable person to fill this vacancy.

At the completion of the formal meeting, the President invited the Minister for Ageing and Disability Services, the Hon Kristina Keneally, to address the meeting.   Minister Keneally ably informed those present of the Government’s policies in relation to disability services, which of course extend much further than hearing impairment.

A short visual presentation on screen of the 61st National Conference, the 2007 Clear Speech Award ceremony, a social outing and work of the craft circle followed before the introduction of the second speaker, Mr Tony Crittenden, Chief Audiologist and Head of the Department of Audiology at Concord General Hospital.   Tony gave an interesting talk entitled “Whistles & Bells” explaining particularly the causes of irritating whistling as an electronic feedback.
