Better Hearing Sydney’s Open Day was a great success at the end of July. Over $1500 was raised through the Garage Sale, Sausage Sizzle and Morning Tea (all of which were alternative titles for the day at various times!).
However, the most pleasing aspect of the event was the participation of so many people in helping to make it a terrific day out for everyone. Both regular committee members as well as ordinary members contributed generously with their labour and cheerful good will to make everything run smoothly. We were fortunate to have a display of hearing assistive devices from Deafness Resources, which drew a continuous and inquiring crowd of interested people, both members and non-members; smoke alarms were a feature. During the day we were fortunate in being able to present 70th Anniversary Medallions to three of the newsreaders who had not been able to get to the celebratory lunch in June. Prof Bill Gibson, our Patron, made the presentation to Chris Bath and, later in the proceedings, our President did the same for Anne Sanders and Angela Pearman. |
